Rodeo Stampede Deconstruction

I recently had the opportunity to deconstruct and improve the IAP and Ad monetization for Rodeo Stampede in an interview exercise, and I wanted to share my thoughts and my breakdowns. I also intend to create a PowerPoint to go more in-depth into my points and will link it down below once it’s complete.

Core Gameplay Loop:

The core gameplay loop of Rodeo Stampede works as your character tames several different animals, rides them, and moves on to the next animal. This level gives you challenges to earn coins, and the longer you stay on the map, the more coins you get. Once you get coins, you can use them to build habitats, decorate, revive, and get maps. Please use the graph below for a general breakdown of the gameplay loop.

Ad Monetization and IAP:

There are several Ad monetization and In-app purchase (IAP) methods in Rodeo Stampede. There are Ad videos once a player dies throughout a level or if a player wants another spin on the cycle. Weekly subscriptions also exist for users in two forms: a legendary lion subscription and a lucky lamb subscription. These subscriptions offer several benefits to players, from coins to more unique animals. 

Finally, the store, which includes a variety of things, has five different options: a special offer, Badges, Epic Animals, Coins, and maps. The maps offered allow players to prioritize how they would like to play the game. By choosing many different choices, players could add special animals or unlock early maps if they wanted. Improvements For Ad Monetization and IAP:

One key area of improvement that could be added for monetization improvement would be the integration of a battle pass. Battle passes are shown to be successful not only for monetization as they range between $10 and $20 USD, but they're also an enjoyable experience for users in terms of engagement and retention. Battle passes also help keep users engaged with new content and an amazing value proposition and create regular spending habits within the game community. While being user-friendly and also creating spending predictability within key demographics.

Another way of improving over-monetary methods for Rodeo Stampede includes collaboration with other franchises. Popular game franchises such as Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege, and Genshin Impact will do real-world collaborations with other franchises, which will result in more engagement and monetization. For example, Rodeo Stampede is in a unique position where it has animals and decorations for a player. A collaboration with Avatar would drive monetization, as unique animals or outfits from that world would drive monetization and engagement

Finally, improving current ad monetization would include the videos played when needed. When a video plays, it takes awhile to see how long there is until a player earns a revive. Simply adding a timing countdown to the ad would help users engaged and stay through the ad instead of getting frustrated. That ad video could also include other games offered by Yodo1 that could help drive monetization for Rodeo Stampede and other games. Another option that could be explored is giving the player a choice of ads to choose from. This would have multiple streams of ads from other companies and give the player a variety to choose from.
